This is how to measure a slanting roof
from the ground

Three measurements are needed: the

of the roof at the eaves, the
span

rise
. For the length and width measure the ground from points directly under the corners of the roof at the eaves.
The rise must usually be measured visually. Often this can be done by counting the siding planks or other patterns and multiplying the number of planks by the exposed width of each plank.
