Wafer board    A manufactured wood panel made out of 1"- 2" wood chips and glue. Often used as a substitute for plywood in the exterior wall and roof sheathing.  

 

Warranty    In construction there are two categories of warranties, one for products, provided by the manufacturer, and the other for labor.  

 

Watt    A measure of the electrical requirement of an appliance calculated by multiplying volts by amps.

Weep screed      A screen device installed at the lowest level of the exterior stucco, allowing moisture gathered on the interior to drain to the exterior. 

 

Wet-or-dry-surface plastic roof cement    Superior performance in cold and wet applications. Performs as a general-purpose exterior repair and maintenance material on damp or dry surfaces. Used to stop roof and other leaks quickly. 

 

Wood frame construction     A type of construction in which the structural parts are wood or depend upon a wood frame for support.  

 

Woven valley    Method of valley construction in which shingles from both sides of the valley extend across the valley and are woven together by overlapping alternate courses as they are applied. The valley flashing is not exposed.
